Buy or rent an apartment or a house in Thong-lor - Ekamai area
Bangkok is a vast capital, a buzzing and vibrant city of more than 12 million inhabitants where a foreigner can easily feel lost.
The city is divided in several large neighborhoods but some of them will come up more often than others in a conversation. These popular and well-known districts are for example Sukhumvit, Sathorn, Silom and Saladaeng.
One of Bangkok’s main arteries, which spans over more than 400 km from Ploenchit to the Cambodian border (Trat) is Sukhumvit. Two very popular avenues among Japanese, international expats and wealthy Thai people alike located between Sukhumvit 55 and Sukhumvit 63 are Thong-lor and Ekamai.
The craze can be explained by numerous reputable hotels, luxurious service apartments, condominium, house in compound, townhouse, fashionable shops and cafes such as the ones of J avenue (Thong-lor soi 15), a large selection of Thai and international restaurants and clubs, important banks such as HSBC and one of Bangkok renown hospitals, Samitivej, as well as the proximity to the famous high-end mall, the Emporium (BTS Phrom Phong).
If you are an art lover or like everything’s technology, you will appreciate the variety of design stores and art galleries on Ekkamai as well as the first “concept store” opened in Thailand selling the latest high tech products (Ekkamai soi 18). Grocery shopping has never been easier on Thong-lor - Ekamai with a vast array of refined supermarkets that sell imported products from Europe and the US such as “Villa Market” (Thong-lor soi 15 and 49), “Tops Market”, “Big C” and “Max Value” open 24/7.
They all provide free parking. You can get to the center of Bangkok in less than 15 minutes depending on how close to the BTS Thong-lor or Ekkamai you reside. You can also access the highway Rama 9 either at the end of Ekamai or Sukhumvit following Prakanong on the left after soi 71.
Finally, there are several international schools in the neighborhood such as the American School of Bangkok (soi 49) or the St Andrews International School (soi 71) and on the weekend, you can easily take the bus to visit some of Thailand’s most coveted places such as Pattaya, Jomtien, Ko Samed, Trat, Ko Chang (Eastern Ekkamai Bus Station on Sukhumvit Road at the bottom of BTS Ekamai).
